The place where Okabe bought Samidare. In Japanese, it was called 武器屋 (Bukiya, weapon shop), which is the name of a real store in Akihabara. Some sites seem to call it BladeWorks in English, but I can't find that anywhere on the site. Its official romanized name seems to be either Weiss Blau Residenz or just Bukiya.
Well, the TIP says it's fictional, so, why not just call it BladeWorks? Sounds like an awesome name for a weapon shop.
Bukiya has a rental service, so I guess if you rent something from there indefinitely, it would be called...

Editing/Publishing/Editorial Company -> Editorial Company
I'm not quite sure of the differences, but I'm pretty sure "publishing company" is the least accurate, and "editorial work" sounds better than "editing work".
Pussies -> Kittehs
Nuko(ぬこ) is a visually similar misspelling of Neko(ねこ), and the TIP referred to cute cat pictures and videos on the internet, so I decided I had no better choice but to channel lolcats and use "kittehs".
It fits since kitteh is a visually similar misspelling of kitten, and it's also used for cute cat pictures and videos on the internet... I guess.

I'm sticking with translating Shido's メス猫(Mesu Neko, Female Cat) as Pussy. Molly or Queen doesn't quite cut it. Cat Bitch might be an option, though. The "I'm going to stain that pussy black" line just has funnier implications.
Oh, and speaking of Shido and the Viral Attackers, some people have suggested to leave DQN as DQN instead of the half-assed localization of "troll". Now that I'm getting TIPS done, I might do just that.
Same thing with Chuunibyou as "Pretentious Hipster Bullshit". It seemed like a good idea when I first thought of it (the first prologue video), but I started liking it less and less as time went on. It's too long, and doesn't quite convey the whole meaning of Chuunibyou. They both involve trying too hard to look cool, but Chuunibyou is more about being childishly imaginative.
I think the "pretentious delusion" part of the prologue should stay, though, so as to not break the flow of things. And 'cause I'm too lazy to render it again.

Editorials are works in newspapers (usually) that are opinionated whereas articles are facts/actual news reports.

A publishing company prints and sells the material.

ReplyDeleteThe TIP says that a 編集プロダクション is a company that publishers contract for design and (editing/compilation/editorial) work.
In Steins;Gate, the company produces articles for different PC magazines. Moeka's allegedly sent by them to get pictures for these articles.
The Japanese Wikipedia article also states that several specialized publishers from the same field contract the same 編集プロダクション for articles. There's no equivalent English article.
I guess this setup isn't used in the West.
A simple search for "編集プロダクション English" gives results stating that "editing company" and "editorial company" are the closest, but it still doesn't seem quite right.

One of the definitions for Editorial as an adjective is "of or pertaining to an editor or to editing". And it also includes stuff referring to the noun form of editorial, which is what you said.
So I guess Editorial Company would be the most overreaching? I don't know.
It's sort of like a freelance writer... company.

I guess like "This is not a child's delusion." or something? I'm going to assume that's not really an accurate translation seeing how you mentioned "childish" already?
I guess it also would be similar to perhaps a freshman in High School? You know, given how they're looked down upon by their upper classmen? (Or at least it was when I attended High School.) Middle schooler could be just as bad of an insult I suppose, but again, I'm tired and not knowledgeable on this subject.
It looks absolutely fine in the prologue though.

Chuunibyou is a term used when kids in middle school try to act cool or mysterious, thus when a grown man is referred to "chuunibyou" it means "8th grader disease(d)" or "middle school disease(d)" the chuu in chuunibyou is referring to chuugakusei or middle schooler. So this makes more sense. It's a very derogatory term meant to be insulting. Literally when one is called they are are referred to as someone on the same level as a middle school student. It fits better than childish delusions, which does not sound as insulting.
