The Robotics;Notes OP shows a shot of the H-IIA Launch Vehicle Flight No.17 on May 21, 2010.
Here's a clip of the actual launch, which is notably less colorful than in the OP:
Steam isn't the issue. It's 5pb.. Everything depends on 5pb.'s answer. If they've got their own plans for an official release like they do for the fourth Science ADV game, then we might hold the patch back out of respect. If they just outright say no, then I guess we might release the patch. Whatever happens, I honestly don't know how long it'll take to complete since I've mostly passsed the ball to Qaenyin and Steiner for editing.
Well, as much as I hate waiting (I finally gave in and imported a Japanese copy and I've almost 100%'d it on the unedited patch...), I think you guys' decision is a respectable one.
I don't see why 5pb. are so averse to the idea, though. Don't they only stand to gain money if they do a digital Steam release? There is currently no legal method to obtain ANY Steins;Gate material in English, so Steins;Gate fans who can't do Japanese are pretty much forced to pirate. All these potential customers...
Even if 5pb. suddenly greenlit the release, our editors haven't touched any of the phone.txt nor the TIPS. QC hasn't started either. I believe Qaenyin's on vacation, and Reading Steiner is busy with S;G side material like the Hiyoku Renri manga adaptations. Unless they get some motivation boost and some spare time boost, I don't know if early summer is feasible. Late summer, perhaps. If all goes well. Or horribly wrong.
But I'm just guessing here.
I'm not involved in the negotiations at all, so I don't have much of a better idea of what's going on than most other people. It would be better to ask Makoto on that front.
Well hey, I just wanna say thanks for all the hard work so far. You've done a great service to this series and I really hope this turns into a thing; getting S;G out there as an actual English product would be incredible (because God knows Funimation is currently doing fuck all with the anime license).
Jokes aside, Steiner and I sent a few emails to Funimation in the hopes that they'd get a few things right, like "Cristina" and the difference between "Steins;Gate" and "the Steins Gate".
It was kind of cute how Steiner hesitated to send his email because he didn't want to spoil anything to the interns who read the emails.
You know, I'd like to know the difference between "Steins;Gate" and "the Steins Gate" myself. Is "Steins;Gate" ever proper within context of dialog, or is it always "Steins Gate" when used by characters? Is "Steins;Gate" only for the title?
Basically, it's Steins;Gate only in the context of "This is Steins;Gate's choice". In the original Japanese text, the distinction is clearer since "Steins;Gate" has the kanji 運命石の扉, or "Door of the Fate Stone". It doesn't actually mean anything.
"The Steins Gate" is written only with katakana. It refers to an actual thing in the series.
lol so when someone caters to your interests, they're awesome and the best person in the world, but as soon as they do something else with their time, they're fags? Gotta love it.
So are you 100% sure steam will take the game? if not, will you release a patch once its done? how long will it take to come out if steam takes it?

As Blick said. Right now Editing is something around 90-95% complete. Until we get an answer from 5pb we're mostly sitting on our hands TBH.

Do you think we will see it either way this summer?

You called Steiner "cute", i know have a new OTP.
DeleteAh, so Steins;Gate is Okarin's chuuni-ism and the Steins Gate is the thing they talk about toward the end. Correct?
DeleteExactly.
